Ed Husain

Ed Husain was raised in the East End in a Moslem family of Indian origin. He was drawn into Radical Islam, becoming an active member of Hizb ut-Tahrir. He became increasingly disillusioned with the Islamist movement, especially so after a visit to Wahhabist Saudi Arabia. His book The Islamist: Why I Joined Radical Islam In Britain, What I Saw Inside and Why I Left (2007) is critical of those within the British Establishment who have tried to appease fanaticism.

Maajid Nawaz

Maajid Nawaz grew up in Essex. He was of Pakistani heritage. As a youth he experienced considerable racialism. He became an active member of the Hizb ut-Tahrir. Ultimately, he rejected it.
