Night Czar

In 2003 Amsterdam in The Netherlands appointed the world's first night mayor (nightmare ... geddit). Thirteen years later London followed suit. The initial appointee was Amy Lam , an American whose collective Duckie had long been associated with The Royal Vauxhall Tavern.

(Boris Johnson was the Mayor of London. In retrospect, within London government, his conduct led to him being referred to by some as the Night Mayor.)

In the 18^thC night was regarded as stripping away the veneer that people adopted during the daytime. Oliver Goldsmith's play She Stoops To Conquer (1773) was subtitled Mistakes of A Night.
